The Michigan Tech women's soccer team was eliminated from the GLIAC women's soccer tournament by Saginaw Valley State in penalty kicks Friday (Nov. 2). Neither team scored in regulation and SVSU advanced in the penalty kick shoot out 4-2.

"We had a hard fought battle today and unfortunately penalty kicks were the decider," said head coach Michelle Jacob. "We showed a lot of heart and determination, and I couldn't be more proud of these players. They have accomplished amazing things throughout the season."

The Huskies, who were the regular season co-champions, finished with an 18-14 advantage in shots and a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams finished with four corner kicks a piece.

Jenna Phelps, who played every minute in goal for the Huskies this season, made five saves.

The game is recorded as a tie with Tech's record standing at 14-3-2, a school record for wins in a season.
