The Michigan Tech women's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the GLIAC soccer tournament with a 3-0 win over Tiffin Tuesday (Oct. 30). The Huskies will face the winner of the Saginaw Valley State and Ohio Dominican match Friday in Allendale, Mich.

"I am so proud of our women today," said head coach Michelle Jacob. "They played hard and never gave up. We kept the pressure on offensively and worked hard to win the ball defensively."

Katie Boardman scored her seventh goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 19th minute.

Lexi Herrewig scored two minutes into the second off a header from a cross by Katie Boardman. Herrewig would assist on the team's third goal by Amanda Whiting in the 74th minute.

Tech (14-3-1) dictated much of the play finishing with advantages in shots, 26-4, and corner kicks, 7-0.

Jenna Phelps made two saves in goal for the Huskies.
