Latest news, weather, high school sports for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

NMU Golfers Finish 14th at GLIAC Fall Event

The Northern Michigan University golf team finished 14th at the two-day GLIAC Fall Event on Monday (Sept. 24) at HawksHead Golf Course. Wayne State University won the event that featured 16 teams with a team score of 594. The Wildcats scored 638.

Junior Jared Reid was the top golfer for the ‘Cats, finishing tied for 17th with a six-over-par 150. He shot a 77 on Sunday (Sept. 23) and a 73
on Monday.

Freshman Austin LeGault was 12 strokes back and tied for 70th. Ayrton Mantha scored a 163 for a tie in 73rd. Junior Ben Johnson and freshman
Patrick Sweeney both shot 184 for a tie in 81st.

NMU travels to Kenosha, Wis. for the first NCAA Regional next weekend.
