Katie Boardman scored in the 102nd minute to lift Michigan Tech to a 2-1 overtime win at Lake Erie in the GLIAC soccer opener for both schools Friday (Sept. 14).

"We were very pleased to pull away with the overtime win," said head coach Michelle Jacob. "The ladies worked very hard throughout the game, and because of their determination and persistence, they were able to get the job done."

Lake Erie opened the scoring in the 55th minute when Kaitlyn Holland scored with a low shot to the corner.

Lindsey Van Rooy tied the game with her team-leading fifth goal of the season with a shot from 15 yards out in the 65th minute.

Jenna Phelps made six saves in her third win of the season for the Huskies.

Tech (3-2, 1-0) finished with a heavy advantage in shots, 23-11, over Lake Erie (1-4, 0-1).

Tech will play at Notre Dame (Ohio) on Sunday (Sept. 16th).
