SAULT STE. MARIE -- Lake Superior State Women's Basketball Coach Justin Rees has signed Saint Ignace's top player from last season to a national letter of intent.
Lauren Goldthorpe averaged 15.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game in 2011-12.
She helped lead St. Ignace to a 25-1 record and the Class C state semifinals this season and was a contributor on last year's Class C state championship team.
Rees calls Goldthorpe one of the most athletic guards in the state.
Goldthorpe was named Straits Area Conference Co-Most Valuable Player and All-Upper Peninsula Class ABC First Team.
She also made the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Class C Top 10 list and earned Detroit Free Press and Detroit News All-State second team honors.
