The saying is "All good things must come to an end" and for Manistique basketball fans and players, it couldn't be more true than on Tuesday (3/27).

Boys basketball Head Coach Ed Marietti told the Daily Press in Escanaba that he is stepping down after 18 seasons of leading the Emeralds on the hardwood. He told the paper the reason for stepping aside was due to family obligations.

Over those 18 seasons, Marietti compiled a record of 154 wins to 135 losses. The Emeralds won five district titles under Marietti's tutelage including a Class C Regional title in 2009.

He does still plan to continue to being an assistant coach for the Manistique football team.
