HOUGHTON -- (Courtesy of MTU Athletics) Senior Lindsey Lindstrom recorded her fourth double-double of the season for the Michigan Tech women's basketball team scoring 20 points and grabbing a season-high 16 rebounds in a 58-55 league win over Findlay Thursday (Feb. 2).
The Huskies struggled shooting the ball in the first half shooting 23-percent (7-31) to trail by one, 22-21.
"I was disappointed in the first half," said head coach Kim Cameron. "Findlay took us out of our game. We changed our game at halftime and attacked the basket."
Tech's shooting improved to 32-percent (8-25) in the second half but finished at a season-low 27-percent (15-56) for the game.
Sophomore Heather Kessler made an immediate impact upon entering the game with five minutes remaining with the team down four points. Senior Krista Kasuboski made a lay-up for Tech, and Kessler stole the ball at the other end to set-up Lindstrom for a 3-point basket to give the Huskies a one point lead 47-46.
Kessler blocked her lone shot of the game with two minutes remaining. Kasuboski made a pair of free throws to give the Huskies their final lead of the game.
Kessler concluded her evening with a pair of clutch offensive rebounds with less than 30 seconds remaining to seal the win.
"Heather made some big plays for us," said Cameron.
Kasuboski finished with 12 points thanks to 7-of-8 shooting from the line.
Senior Lynn Giesler finished with 15 points and four of the team's nine blocks in the game.
Tech (14-5, 9-5 GLIAC) out-rebounded Findlay (12-8, 6-7 GLIAC) 47-30. The Huskies also shot 23-31 from the free throw line compared to 13-17 by the Oilers.
Tech hosts Wayne State Saturday (Feb. 4).
