FARMINGTON HILLS, MI -- The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that Northern Michigan senior Tyler Gron has been named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month for December.

The 5-foot-11, 199-pound forward produced a league-leading eight points (3-5-8) in only three games. He netted a power-play goal, recorded three multi-point nights, and earned a +4 rating in December. Gron currently sits in a tie for seventh in the CCHA in goals scored (9) and leads the Wildcats in points (17).

The Spruce Grove, Alb., native began his stellar month with a goal and an assist in Northern Michigan’s 2-1 win over Miami on Dec. 2. The following night, Gron notched three assists to help the Wildcats to a 5-1 victory and a sweep of the Red Hawks.  After missing the two-game series at Lake Superior with an injury, Gron returned to the lineup and scored twice and added an assist in the Wildcats’ 4-1 non-conference win against Michigan Tech on Dec. 16.
