MARQUETTE -- The NMU Football team has dropped ten straight games to Grand Valley State.

The Lakers visit the Superior Dome this Saturday.

The big news is Grand Valley State has lost three of its last four games, and one more loss certainly will end their chances for the Division II playoffs.

NMU still knows the Lakers will be a difficult challenge.

"We're going to have to execute and not turn the ball over," says NMU Head Coach Bernie Anderson.  "There's no question we have to help our defense out, and we're going to have to put points on the board.  We're going to have to play well and be aggressive on both sides of the ball.  It's going to have to take one of our best efforts, best game, complete game in order to beat Grand Valley."

"They've had a few close losses,"  says NMU Quarterback Carter Kopack.  "It's catching up to them; eventually you're not going to win every year, 11 or 12 games.  So it's going to be a tough year for them, but they're still very good, very talented.  They were ranked fifth in the country as close as three weeks ago.  So they're a tough team and will bring us a battle.  It will be a fun game to partake in."

Kicker Rockne Belmonte has a shiny pair of shoes he's breaking in.  I don't know if he'll wear them Saturday, but there's one way to find out.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Meanwhile Michigan Tech hosts Saginaw Valley State for homecoming.
