EBEN -- The 2011 Upper Peninsula Class D Boys Basketball Coach of the Year has resigned.
Cary Chartier of Superior Central told TV6 Thursday night that while he loves coaching, he needs to spend more time with older relatives. He also wants to follow the career of his son, Jordan, at Michigan Tech.
Jordan was the U.P. Class D Player of the Year and a first team all-stater in Class D by the Associated Press.
Cary Chartier also was the Associated Press Class D Coach of the Year last season.
In five seasons, Chartier had a record of approximately 94-29 with the Cougars. He won three district titles and a regional last season as the boys reached the state semifinals before losing to Marine City Cardinal Mooney, 66-55.
