Senior Defensive End records seven tackles in 28-16 win

HOUGHTON -- The big headlines were reserved for Michigan Tech QB Tyler Scarlett after the big win over Indianapolis Saturday.  Scarlett did connect on 16 of his 19 pass attempts and two touchdowns, but one Calumet High School alum was just as intregal to the Huskies' success over the weekend.

Defensive end Todd Storm led the Huskies' defense that was without their other 2010 All-GLIAC defensive end, Drew Vanderlin, and 2010 All-GLIAC Honorable Mention cornerback, Quinn Parnell.

Storm recorded seven total tackles with two tackles for a loss, plus a half sack.

All this production with his running mate Vanderlin sidelined with a foot injury and extra attention from the Greyhounds' offensive line.  "I think they tried to slide my way a little bit, but I just made the most of my opportunities when they were presented to me," said the 2010 All-American.  "In the second half, I had a lot more opportunities and I feel like I did a pretty good job."

From a coach's standpoint, Huskies Head Coach Tom Kearly knows just how much of  nightmare the Calumet native can be for opposing offenses.  "You know, if you turn him loose in the pass rush and all of a sudden he gets out on the edge and he can smell the quarterback, he's pretty tough to handle," said Kearly.

Kingsford's Nelson Wienke had one-and-a-half sacks filling in for Vanderlin against Indianapolis.  He was credited with two tackles as well.

The Huskies are on the road again this Saturday at Ohio Dominion in Columbus.
