Finlandia University Softball players Rachelle Cable and Alex Lindbloom had the unique opportunity to spend nearly two weeks overseas playing softball for the USA International Softball Team.
The USA International Team played foreign teams from Amsterdam, Antwerp, Rouen, Paris, Belgium and France. Rachelle and Alex's excellent play helped lead the USA International Team to an undefeated 5-0 record.
Cable finished the series hitting .375 at the plate while demonstrating excellent defensive play in both left and right field.
"After playing the French International Team, we saw how hard it was for them to get quality equipment, which is something we take for granted here in the United States," said Cable. "After the game, many of us gave our personal equipment to them knowing how easy it was for us to get more and how much of a difference it would make for them and their programs."
"This trip was an amazing once-in-a-lifetime trip, and being a member of the USA International Softball team was an amazing honor that I will always be proud of," Cable reiterated. "I'm thankful to Finlandia Coach Shawn Hendrickson for nominating me for this opportunity."
"The trip was a wonderful experience and I was lucky to meet so many new and different people while making new connections," said Lindbloom. "It was an absolutely great time with some amazing people."
Alex played shortstop for the USA International Softball Team and her .533 batting average was second highest on the squad.
"It was wonderful to be able to go out and experience the culture first hand," Lindbloom said. "I'm thankful to Coach Hendrickson for nominating me for this opportunity, and if given this opportunity again, I would definitley go."
