Stephenson driver Ives hops Baumgartner in points standings.
BARK RIVER -- Saturday at the TRAXXAS Off Road Races in Bark River, the Stock Truck points leader, Nick Baumgartner, had some engine troubles and had to call it quits after a few laps putting him last in the race.
After finishing on the podium his first four races, the Winter Olympian's other shoe seemed to drop.
"Today we found the other side of racing a little bit, but it's part of it and I think all of it's going to make me better. It's going to make us better prepping it and just hope nothing's wrong with it," said the Winter X-games Gold Medalist. "I should get a better start (Sunday) and I should be closer, so I'll have to work through less problems and then I won't get all the dirt in my radiator. I shouldn't heat up. Hopefully if all works out, I'll get out front and walk away with it."
Matt Ives from Stephenson leapt past Baumgartner winning Saturdays race and takes over the points lead in the process. Ives has finished second in points the last two seasons.
Later on in the Super Stock race, Scott Beauchamp was out early on, and before he got through the crowd, his little cousin Danny Beauchamp got bumped out of the picture literally finishing sixth.
Scott went on to win his fourth straight race and take a stranglehold on the point standings lead.
