IRON MOUNTAIN -- Over 300 participants enjoyed a beautiful day to run, walk, or bike in the 34th Annual Lake Antoine Classic on Saturday, August 6. The Classic, which is held to benefit Special Olympics, was sponsored by Systems Control, Verso Paper, Dickinson County Healthcare System, Econo Foods, and WLUC-TV6.
Michael Kulas of Iron Mountain finished first in the two-mile run with a time of 13:17. Blake Maxwell of Green Bay finished second with a time of 13:20 and Nick Brule of Iron Mountain was third with a time of 13:52. The top female finisher was Josephine Roos of Sault Ste. Marie with a time of 16:16. Shirley Keezer of Wilson was second with a time of 16:18 and Sarah Kulas finished third with a time of 16:34.
Steve Orchard of Kingsford won the five-mile race around Lake Antoine with a time of 32:26. Mike Zygiel of Norway finished second with a time of 32:58 and Steven Raboin of Norway was third with a time of 34:34. The top woman was Lexi Weber of Niagara with a time of 36:14. Leslie Dishaw of Norway was second with a time of 38:20 and Melissa Wentarmini of Iron Mountain was third with a time of 38:58.
Todd Moroney of Fitchburg, WI won the 15K race around Fumee Lake with a time of 57:19. Rob Cavalieri of Norway was second with a time of 1:02:24 and Daniel Kulas of Iron Mountain was third with a time of 1:03:12. Susannah Moroney of Fitchburg, WI was the top women finisher with a time of 59:47. Erica Johnson of Felch was second with a time of 1:03:30 and Jodi Wadge of Iron Mountain was third with a time of 1:11:47.
The Corporate Challenge trophy was won by the Champion Inc. team of Dan Wentarmini, Steve Alexa, and Matt Gerard with a combined time of 2:01:01.
