MARQUETTE -- A Marquette girl has been given a chance to improve her skills at the Michigan Olympic Development Program winter training team for girls soccer.
Carleigh Hillier is one of 30 soccer players, and the first from the Upper Peninsula, to be selected for this program.
Hillier is 14 years old and will be a freshman at Marquette Senior High School. She usually is a midfielder, but she also plays forward for FC Marquette squads.
Hillier will have training sessions throughout the winter in the Lower Peninsula, and in the spring, the Michigan Development Team will be reduced to 18 players. If she makes the cut, she'll do plenty of traveling next summer playing against other state sand regional Olympic development teams.
