Six females among those to be inducted

The Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame has added 11 new members, with six females among those who will be inducted April 28 at The Danforth Place in Escanaba.
The latest selections include: All-American skier Shari (Ahola) Byerly of Gladstone, former Michigan Tech University coach Cheryl (Dorais) Depuydt, former professional ice show skater and long-time coach Jeanette LeCaptain of Escanaba, former DeTour High School and Lake Superior State basketball star Erica Ledy, former Alcona High School multi-sort coach Joell (Johnson) Krejcarek of Carlshend, and former Norway High School girls coach Barb Perry.
They will be joined by youth baseball coach/administrator Larry Barkle of Iron Mountain, one-time Detroit Red Wing trainer Carl Mattson of Baraga, all-around athlete Jack Mugford of Laurium, former Munising High School coach Terry Sayen and Con Yagodzinski, a basketball standout at Escanaba Holy Name High School and Northern Michigan University.
The selections were made in Hancock by the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame's executive council.
