Rapid River softball captures 2nd regional crown in school history

First Rockets Regional title since 2003

PELLSTON -- It took a little longer than Rockets fans would have liked in multiple ways, but Rapid River won their first Regional Softball Championship since 2003.

Rapid River won its regional semifinal in dramatic fashion after a rain delay. Whitney Taull hit a walk-off two run homerun in the bottom eighth inning. Heather Sanderson pitched all eight innings for the shut out, striking out eighteen batters.

In the final, the Rockets outlasted Hillman 3-2 for the title. They travel to Traverse City West High School to face Manistee Catholic Central Tuesday (6/14) at 3 p.m.
