The Sportspen will broadcast June 1 from "The Mother Ship"
MARQUETTE -- An Upper Peninsula radio station will broadcast its local sports show from the worldwide headquarters of ESPN Wednesday, June 1.
ESPN 970 am, also known as WZAM of Marquette, was selected to broadcast its local show, The Sportspen, that day as part of the grand opening celebration of newly constructed audio studios in Bristol, Connecticut.
ESPN 970 has been an affiliate since July of 2005.
"The Sportspen" is cohosted by Casey Ford and Bill Blohm and has been on the air Monday through Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. eastern time since November 15, 2007.
"It's very cool to get an honor like going to Bristol, Connecticut," says Ford. "You can't ask for anything more. It's a dream come true for anyone that works at ESPN. If you're not going to get a job there, at least we get to watch ESPN and watch Mike (Golic) & Mike (Greenberg) and do their thing."
ESPN 970 will be joining 16 ESPN stations from around the country that will participate in live show broadcasts, VIP tours, and "Lunch with a Legend".
ESPN stations that have been invited include New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
