AD Chris Salani relieves Kemppainen after nine seasons with the program
HANCOCK -- (Courtesy of Finlandia Athletics) Finlandia director of athletics Chris Salani announced today that Finlandia has decided to make a change in its head men's basketball coach.
“I truly appreciate the hard work Charlie has put into being our men's basketball coach the past nine seasons,” Salani said. “He is a good person and has been a loyal and a committed representative of our athletic department and university. Charlie represents the type of individual that helps make our community better.”
Since becoming a member of the NCAA in 2006, the Finlandia men's program has a cumulative wins and loss record of 44-73 (.367) and an overall record of 22-54 (.289) against NCAA Division III opponents. The Lions program finished this past season at 7 – 17 (.292).
“We will immediately begin the search for a new men's head basketball coach at Finlandia,” said Salani.
