MARQUETTE -- (Courtesy of NMU Athletics) Northern Michigan University head swimming and diving coach Heidi Voigt announced the signing of four high school seniors who have signed National Letters of Intent during the spring signing period to swim for the Wildcats in 2011-12. Emily Bourguignon, Taylor Grimm, Jordan Iverson and Molly Kearney will join the group of six that signed in during the fall signing period for Voigt’s first recruiting class. All four swimmers excel in the classroom.
Emily Bourguignon is from De Pere, Wis. and swims for De Pere High School and Green Bay YMCA Swim Club. She is her high school record holder in the 100 and 200 free and the 100 back. She was a three-time YMCA National Qualifier and YMCA All-State swimmer. Bourguignon has a 4.0 grade-point average.
“Emily is a mid-distance freestyle specialist who can do it all. Her versatility and excellence in the classroom will be a great addition,” Voigt said.
Taylor Grimm is a butterfly specialist from Fort Wayne, Ind. She swims for Snider High School and Pocahontas Swim Club. She has a 3.4 grade-point average.
“Taylor will fill a big hole in our line up in the butterfly and I am looking for great times from her,” Voigt said.
Jordan Iverson is from Anchorage, Ala. and swims for Service High School and Northern Lights Swim Club. She specializes in the 200 fly, 400 individual medley and 1,000 free. Iverson has a 3.9 grade-point average.
“Jordan seems to get faster every time she gets in the pool. We will be able to put her in a variety of events and will be another leader in the classroom,” Voigt said.
Molly Kearney is a diver from Sacramento, Calif. and dives for El Camino Fundamental High School and Capital Divers Club. She will fill the hole left by graduating senior Kelli Vander Baan. Kearney was three-year Sac-Joaquin section finalist and holds a 3.8 GPA.
“Molly has an extensive list on both the one and three-meter springboard. I am very excited to have Molly join the Wildcat diving ranks,” Voigt said.
