EAST LANSING (AP) -- Durant Vega scored nine of his 21 points in the fourth quarter to lead Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian to a 67-50 win over Fulton in Michigan's Class D state championship game.
Mike Boon added 14 points on Saturday for Wyoming Tri-Unity, which earned its third championship in its fifth title game appearance since 2002. Joey Blauwkamp added 16 for the Defenders (25-2), while Tyler Walden had 20 for Fulton.
The Pirates (25-3) only trailed 40-38 going into the fourth and got back within 44-42 on Tyler Walden's 3-pointer with 6:25 left.
But Brandon Trefil missed the front end of a one-and-one when he could have tied the game. Boon's 3-pointer started a 13-2 lead that gave the Defenders a 57-44 lead with two minutes to play, and they cruised to the win.
