The Gogebic Community College Women's Basketball team took on the Mystics of Bismarck State College in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 13 opener in Ironwood.
First half, an old fashioned pick and roll from Ontonagon's Brittany Turin to Hurley's Brittany Czerneski for the lay-up. Czerneski filled the nets with 26 points on 11 of 12 shooting.
Next, Ironwood's Jesse Mackey to Ontonagon's Lauren Siren. She goes to the hoop for two of her 12, along with eight rebounds.
But the standout of the game was the former Red Devil, Jesse Mackey. She nearly had a triple double with 32 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists plus 5 steals.
Gogebic held off a late Mystics rally to win 92-75. GCC meets Dakota College of Bottineau in the regional final tomorrow afternoon at four o'clock central time.
