LSSU Men defeat NMU in basketball

The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team scored a season low 43 points in its loss to Lake Superior State, 57-43, at Bud Cooper Gymnasium on Thursday (Feb. 10) night.

NMU is now 7-15 overall and 2-13 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Lake Superior (14-8, 8-7 GLIAC) used a 6-0 run after halftime to gain control of the game, upping a four-point lead to 10.  LSSU also held the ‘Cats to only six second half field goals.

DeAndre Taylor led the ‘Cats with 13 points and eight assists.  Jared Benson had 11 points, five rebounds and five blocks.  The ‘Cats hit only 3-of-18 3-pointers with 19 turnovers.

For the Lakers, Derek Kinney had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds; Micah Hudson and Justin Williams had 11 each.

The Wildcats are off until next week when they host Lake Erie and Ashland.
