MARQUETTE -- Northern Michigan men’s Nordic skier Martin Banerud has been named Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) men’s skier of the week.
Banerud was the top collegiate finisher in the 15k class and was third in the 10k freestyle at the Mayor’s Challenge in Minneapolis last weekend (Jan. 22-23). Banerud won by 11 seconds in the classic and was only 10 seconds behind the winner in the freestyle race.
The ‘Cats travel to Houghton this weekend to participate in the Michigan Tech SuperTour. The event will open with a 5/10k individual start classic race on Saturday, followed by a 10/15k individual start skate race on Sunday.
