The high school football "Rudy" Awards have been handed out, and an Upper Peninsula student-athlete nearly won the national contest.
Cody Rye of Ironwood finished first runner up to Chance Anthony of Hardinsburg in the contest. You may recall seeing Cody featured on TV6 over the last few years. The Ironwood senior was paralyzed in a car accident when he was a child, but it didn't stop him from playing varsity football for two years.
Cody receives a $5,000 academic scholarship from the foundation.
