Purdue's winningest basketball coach holds auction

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Former Purdue University basketball coach Gene Keady is auctioning off many of his personal belongings — from NCAA tournament pendants to his late wife's mink coat — to lighten his load before he moves to a smaller home.

Keady will part with many items from his 25 years at Purdue in two estate sales, the first set for Saturday in Lafayette. He tells the Journal & Courier that it's bittersweet because all the possessions represent "good memories." The auctions include items both from Keady's Purdue career and his late wife, Pat. She died last year.

Saturday's auction includes several of Keady's Purdue pendants and tournament game gym bags and a basketball autographed by former Boilermaker and retired NBA player Glenn Robinson. Keady retired in 2005 as Purdue's winningest basketball coach.
