BAY CITY - Lake Superior State senior guard Emily Joseph (Sterling Heights, Mich.) was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week after averaging 18 points per game during last week's women's basketball wins at Saginaw Valley State and Northwood.
Joseph totaled 20 points, four assists and two rebounds as the Lakers (5-3 overall, 2-0 GLIAC) beat the Cardinals 76-64. She followed that performance with 16 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals during a 64-49 victory at Northwood. For the week, she shot 52.6 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from three-point range. Joseph went into the week averaging 8.7 points per game.
The pre-season All-GLIAC honoree is averaging 11 points per game. She is currently fourth in career assists at LSSU with 353 and second in all-time free-throw percentage at .820. She has 989 career points heading into Saturday's GLIAC home opener against Hillsdale.
