Mackenzie Shepeck is ready to tackle a new challenge, but the Gladstone High School senior has her priorities in order and is concentrating on the present.

Shepeck has signed a national letter of intent to pitch for the Western Michigan University women's softball team.  Shepeck, who just finished volleyball season, is getting ready for basketball season and is also looking ahead to softball in spring.

She helped lead the softball Braves to the Division 3 state championship in 2008 and last year helped Gladstone reach the semifinals.  She also spent most of the summer pitching for the Michigan Athletic travel team, which won four qualifying tournaments and played in the national tournament in California.
