Seven NHL personnel on hand for Hockey Excellence Program
Five Escanaba High School hockey players recently competed in the "Hockey Excellence Program" hosted by Chelsea High School, the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association, and USA Hockey.Cody Cousineau, Austin Young, Ryan LaMarch, Danny Williams, and Nick Vandermissen were split up among eight teams, and they played in several games during the four-day event at the Chelsea Arctic Coliseum. The camp featured dozens of players from across Michigan and was directed by Edmonton Oilers Director of Player Development Bob Mancini with a focus on preparing players for the next level of hockey after high school.
Eskymo Coach Charlie Elliott was also there as an assistant coach. "It was a great experience for these young men," said Elliott. "There were several NHL scouts there. It was a high-profile camp, and it was exciting for me to be a part of it."
