A former Major League Baseball pitcher, two former Big Ten football players, and probably the most accomplished golfer in U.P. men's history are among ten athletes selected for the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2011.

The inductees are:

The late baseball pitcher William Denton (Dolly) Gray of Houghton.
Football tight end Alan Kimichik of Norway (Michigan State).
Football tight end Jeff Nault of Escanaba (Wisconsin).
Baseball Academic All-American Scott Weaver of Sault Ste. Marie.
Basketball player Sara Boyer of Rapid Rivwer (UW-Green Bay).
Basketball player Kris (Bullock) Dunbar (Lake Superior State), now LSSU's Athletic Director.
Golf standout Scott Hebert of Escanaba.
Football coach Jan Quarless of Iron River.
The late Dave Freeman of Iron Mountain/Marquette, ski jumping champion and football player.
And figure Skater and ice show producer/director John Flanagan of Escanaba.

The choices were made recently by the 23-member UPSHF executive council at a meeting in Saint Ignace.

The 40th annual induction banquet will be on April 23, 2011 at The Danforth Place in Escanaba.
