UPPER PENINSULA -- It's been tough sledding for the Upper Peninsula Arctic Blast semi-pro football team so far in 2010, but the situation is improving.

The Blast had to forfeit Saturday's game at home to the South Metro Dragons.  The Blast is winless in 2010.

Earlier, the Northern Elite Football League fined the Blast $1,000 because it couldn't get enough players for a game at St. Paul, Minnesota.

But TV6 talked to an Arctic Blast official last night, and he says the team should have close to 40 players for its next contest Saturday in Appleton against the Fox Valley Force.

Now you might be thinking--about 40 players, there isn't a need to join the team, but that isn't true.

The Arctic Blast practices every Wednesday at 6 p.m. central time at Norway High School, and the more bodies, the better.

The Arctic Blast's next home game is Saturday, June 26 against the Kimberly Storm at Norway's Ronberg Field.
