Northern Michigan University (17-11-8) will host the Alaska Nanooks (18-9-9) in the quarterfinal round of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Tournament beginning Friday (March 12) at 7:35 p.m.  The quarterfinal round is a best-of-three series.  The second game would be Saturday (March 13 at 7:35 p.m.) and if a third game would be necessary, it would be played Sunday (March 14) with a time to be determined.

The Wildcats squared off against the Nanooks four times during the 2009-10 regular season.  NMU and Alaska tied both games in Fairbanks in late November (3-3, 4-4), but the Nanooks took both shootouts.  In the rematch in Marquette in late January, the ‘Cats won the shootout after a 2-2 draw Jan. 29, then picked up a 3-2 win the next night.
