Geno Auriemma doesn't worry too much about streaks — unless it's national championships.

His unbeaten Huskies were No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 for the 31st straight week Monday, surpassing the school record set by from 1999-2001.

"I didn't know it until you just said it. That's the kind of stuff that you guys probably keep track of because it's part of what your job entails," Auriemma said after Sunday's win over Iona. "I think if we asked anybody on our staff or our team, I don't know that they'd be aware of that. We have six national championships. That's easy to remember."

UConn received all 40 first-place votes from the national media panel and moved within five of the all-time record of 36 consecutive weeks at No. 1 set by Louisiana Tech from 1980-82.

To keep the streak going, the Huskies will have to beat No. 2 Stanford on Wednesday in Hartford. The Cardinal beat top-10 teams Duke and Tennessee last week.

The Huskies blew out Iona by 55 points in its only game of the week. UConn (9-0) has beaten its opponents by an average of 46 points, but hasn't faced a ranked team since beating then-No. 10 Texas in November.

The Cardinal were followed by Notre Dame, Tennessee and Baylor, which was impressive in victories over Gonzaga and Arizona State over the weekend in Las Vegas.

Ohio State was sixth, moving up two places, followed by North Carolina, Duke, Georgia and Texas A&M. The Blue Devils are playing at Maine on Monday night, while the Aggies were coming off victories over Arizona State and Gonzaga in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic.

LSU fell six spots to No. 11 after losing to Nebraska on Sunday. The Cornhuskers jumped up six places to 14th, their highest ranking since they were No. 14 on Dec. 29, 1997.

Florida State and Oklahoma were sandwiched between LSU and Nebraska.

Xavier dropped three places to 15th after losing to Michigan. The Musketeers were followed by Michigan State, Texas, Arizona State, Vanderbilt and Pittsburgh.

Kansas, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Virginia, Georgia Tech and James Madison rounded out the Top 25. It was the first time all season that no team dropped out of the poll.
