(AP) -- Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Jayson Werth is close to signing a contract. A person familiar with the agreement tells The Associated Press the two sides have reached a preliminary agreement on a $10 million, two-year contract, pending a physical.

Werth hit .273 with 24 home runs and 67 RBIs for the World Series champions, and would have been eligible for free agency after the upcoming season.

Philadelphia also announced a one-year contract with reliever Chad Durbin worth $1,635,000.
