Chris Ostrowsky, head football coach at Northern Michigan University, named the 2012 captains before the start of practice on Thursday, August 9. Seniors Zach Anderson, Jace Daniels and Eddie Knoblock, along with junior Christian Marble-King, were voted as captains by their teammates.

"These four guys are great leaders for us," said Ostrowsky. "They all work very hard and push their teammates to do the same. I know I can count on all four to help out the coaching staff."

Defensive lineman Anderson and offensive lineman Daniels were Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference second team selections in 2011 while linebacker Knoblock was a GLIAC first team selection in 2010, and wide receiver Marble-King was GLIAC honorable mention last season.

The Wildcats started preseason practice on Thursday in the Superior Dome. The first game of the season is Thursday, August 30 at the University of Findlay. The home opener is Thursday, September 6 at 7 p.m. against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
