St. Ignace wins Class D girls' hoops state title

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Emily Hinsman scored 20 points and St. Ignace rode a strong fourth quarter to a 59-44 win over Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes in the Class D state championship game.

The Saints (27-0) scored the first nine points of the final period to break a 38-all tie and take the lead for good on Saturday in East Lansing. Sarah Cullip had a pair of rebound baskets during the decisive run and finished with 16 points.

Lexie Robak scored 25 points and Jessica Parry added 10 for the Lakers (21-5), who were seeking their fourth straight state title.

Our Lady of the Lakes led 28-23 at intermission despite 15 turnovers. It finished the game with 27 giveaways.
