ALGER COUNTY -- The 46-year-old Illinois man that died in a snowmobile crash on Trail #8 in Alger County on Tuesday morning has been identified as Peter Keim, according to the Alger County Sheriff's Department.

The sheriff's department said that Keim died from injuries sustained when he hit a tree after being thrown from his snowmobile. When deputies arrived on scene they found him in the middle of the trail, with his snowmobile 155 feet away.

Officials have determined that excessive speed, poor weather and trail conditions are the leading factors in this crash.
