MUNISING TOWNSHIP -- The Alger County Sheriff's Department has reported a fatal snowmobile crash that happened at 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Authorities report that the 46-year-old man from Illinois was traveling on Trail 8 between Shingleton and Wetmore when the crash happened.

The sheriff's department believes that poor visibility and excessive speed were contributing factors in the crash. No further details are being released at this time and the crash is still under investigation.
