UPPER PENINSULA -- There is a shortage of propane in parts of Upper Michigan. Governor Rick Snyder has declared a state of emergency.

The shortage is the result of an increased demand due to the cold weather and a pipeline repair at a propane terminal in Rapid River.

Truckers are having to use alternate propane terminals, requiring longer drive times.

The executive order suspends state and federal regulations for hours of service for propane truckers in Michigan.
