Holiday-time tradition delights crowd in Marquette

MARQUETTE -- Smiles and laughter filled Kaufman Auditorium in Marquette Saturday afternoon. People gathered for a matinee showing of 'Snowflake,' a one-man pantomime act performed by Gale LaJoye.

LaJoye portrays Snowflake, a character inspired by a homeless Marquette man who everyone seemed to know. The whole performance occurs on the stage that is transformed into a street, showing people what life is like on the other side of the fence.

Eight-year-old Blaze Houle from Gwinn said she would definitely see the show again.

"That was awesome, that was a really good show," she said after the performance. "My favorite part was in the beginning where he went on the board and he fell forward when his strap caught him on the fence."

LaJoye has been performing the play since 1990.
