Freshmen Kylie Moxley scored a game-high 14 points and Mackenzie Perttu added 10 to lead the Michigan Tech women's basketball team to a 68-56 win at Malone Saturday (Nov. 29).
Moxley shot 5-of-8 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds, including six on the offensive end. Perttu shot 4-of-7 from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers.
"It's tough to get a win on the road, so I am happy we got a win this evening," said head coach Kim Cameron. "I was disappointed with our turnovers, and I didn't think we played up to our potential. We had a couple of opportunities to build on our lead and we didn't. We kept letting them back in."
The Huskies held a five point lead at halftime before out-scoring the Pioneers 30-23 in the second half.
Tech dominated in rebounds finishing with a 51-32 advantage and shot 46-percent (25-54) from the floor.
Malone shot just 47-percent (10-21) in its first loss of the season.
Tech (3-1, 1-0) will play at Walsh Saturday (Nov. 29).
