Findlay runs over Lake Superior State 85-63

Findlay made runs of 9-0 late in the first half and 11-2 midway through the second half to dominate Thursday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball opener against Lake Superior State.

The Oilers (3-1), who were picked to win the GLIAC South Division in the pre-season poll, shot 50 percent from the field en route to an 85-63 victory.

Jack Smith scored 19 points and Greg Kahlig added 15 to lead four double-figure scorers for Findlay, which led 36-26 at halftime.

Alex Williams scored 14 points, and Derek Kinney added 19 points and nine rebounds to lead LSSU (2-2).

Findlay finished 10-of-27 from behind the arc and 13-of-16 at the free-throw line. The Oilers held a 36-31 rebounding edge.

Lake Superior State shot 42.1 percent from the field, including 5-of-15 from three-point range, and made 10-of-12 free throws.

The Lakers play at Hillsdale at 1 p.m. Saturday.
