NEGAUNEE TWP. -- A winter storm is upon us, and motorists are finding roadways to be quite hazardous across the northern Upper Peninsula.

Around 7:15 a.m. Friday on US-41 in Negaunee Township, a service company pick-up truck overturned in the median in front of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. There appeared to be no injuries.

About two hours later, two vehicles were involved in a minor accident near the intersection of US-41 and M-35. The Michigan State Police responded to both accidents.

According to their road report, roads in the west and central U.P. are snow covered and slippery, with blowing snow reducing visibilities. Those driving Friday should continue to use extra care: slow down, give yourself extra stopping distance, and be alert for other motorists.
