HOUGHTON -- Saturday is International Survivors of Suicide Day.

A group of people gathered in Houghton for a healing workshop. They came together to remember a loved one that died by suicide.

The event was a way for survivors to connect with each other and heal. The session focused on moving forward.

"Watching other survivors in the video that they might be in person today who maybe lost somebody to suicide a few years ago and that often help for someone who has a real recent suicide loss is helpful to get somebody that's been through that struggle," said Eliisa Laitila with Dial Help.

Connecting with others who have a suicide loss is a way to help cope.
