MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- A young woman who was hiking in Marquette Township is safe after getting lost Tuesday.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Department says 19-year-old Melissa York of Harbor Springs was hiking in the Wetmore Pond area when it became dark and she was unable to find her way out.

York called 911 and Marquette County Central Dispatch was able to get a GPS location from her phone.

Search and rescue found York shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday.  She was escorted back to her vehicle and did not need medical attention.
