Northern hockey 2012-2013 schedule out

MARQUETTE -- (Courtesyf of NMU Athletics) The Northern Michigan University hockey team announces its 2012-13 schedule. The 37th season of Wildcat hockey will be the final in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.

The ‘Cats play 36 regular season games and one exhibition. CCHA contests make up 28 games and the eight non-conference games are against Western Collegiate Hockey Association teams. The ‘Cats play 17 home games at the Berry Events Center and 19 road games.

The season opens with an exhibition matchup with Brock University from St. Catherine’s, Ontario at the Berry Events Center on Oct. 7. The regular season begins with a home series at the Resch Center in Green Bay against Wisconsin on Oct. 12-13. The first home series at the Berry Events Center is against Notre Dame (Oct. 26-27). Michigan, Alaska, Michigan Tech, Miami, Ohio State, Ferris State and Lake Superior State will also make appearances in Marquette.

The ‘Cats travel to Nebraska-Omaha, Miami, Ohio State, Western Michigan, Lake Superior State, St. Cloud State, Alaska, Michigan Tech, Michigan State and Bowling Green State.

Northern returns 19 players from the 2011-12 team that finished 17-14-6 overall and 11-11-6-3 in the CCHA.
