The Upper Peninsula High School Girls Basketball season begins.  And it's time to dust off last season's records and see who is on the TV6 Preseason Dream Team and Others to Watch list.

1.  Emily Droese of Kingsford leads the list alphabetically.  The Flivver senior scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds per contest last season.  She should receive help from teammate Jaime Roberts.

2.  The best player is from the Eastern U.P. is Nicole Elmblad of St. Ignace.  The junior returns after pouring in 16 points per contest, grabbing more than 9 rebounds, plus adding 4 steals and 4.2 assists per game.

3.  Republic-Michigamme's  Courtney Holsworth will represent small school power.  The Hawks junior topped the 20 point mark per game besides collecting 4.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game.

4.  Munising's Amanda Maxon should get lots of attention in a balanced Mid Peninsula Conference  She had a double-double, nearly 12.5 points and 10 rebounds per outing.

5.  Mara Ryynanen of Chassell wins a coin toss in the Copper Country.  The Panther junior runs the show and averaged 16.25 points per game.  She also faces a little pressure since Russ Ryyanen is her coach.  I'm pretty sure that's her dad.

Five other players to watch in the TV6 viewing area include:

Maria Almquist of Hancock, Emily Lehto of North Dickinson, Janele Linna of Class D Semifinalist Ontonagon, Mallory Pruett of Ishpeming, and Alicia Romano of Marquette.

And there's at least three other standouts from the Eastern U.P. like Emily Jeffreys of Rudyard.
