An over-the-fence leap for one great catch.

Monday, February 25, 2008 at 4:23 p.m.

MARQUETTE -- Inside the Superior Dome they were playing ball at the Marquette Jaycees Winter Softball Tournament to benefit the Special Olympics.

While looking for a comeback, Sam Molski, a Division Three player at Steven's Point, drills the shot to center.

Chad Collar takes the leap and clears the fence to make the catch in the air.

TV6 Sports' Justus Cleveland goes on the record by saying, "That may be the greatest softball catch I've ever seen."

Nice catch Chad! I heard about it and it was nice for your family to share the clip to see the catch. Worth a record in my book!

Here are the facts!

The catch was HUGE. Chad preserved a 4 run lead in the bottom of the 6th against the #1 team in the tourney.
This is not Chads greatest catch. This was Chads greatest catch ON FILM!!!

With MSNBC's ratings ranked down in the mid 30's against just cable outfits, they would show a hamster race, so don't go all mushy on how it is national it is. I look forward to their expose` on T-Ball..............

Dear not worth the hype....

Posted by Johnathon J., Manistique, MI - Friday, February 29, 2008 at 1:47 p.m.

Then why was it on numerous major cable and network stations. Not news worthy? If it makes it to MSNBC, it's newsworthy. How can it be passed on to so many websites and tv stations that it's top visited/viewed? People originally from the UP have called me from Arizona and Nevada saying they saw the catch from Marquette on their local news.

Don't downplay something that's big to many. Do you have any amazement in your life or have you made the news all over the country for making a huge catch? Maybe that's why this is "over rated".

Way over-hyped

Posted by Not worth the hype So what, Unimpressed-ville - Friday, February 29, 2008 at 1:28 p.m.

So what, the guy made a diving catch over a two and a half foot high fence. Its not like he jumped over an 8 foot wall. And its still a homerun. Big deal. I've seen much better catches than that. And for all we know that ball was on the ground and he picked it up while he was behind that infant-sized fence. Waste of time. Not even remotely news-worthy material.

Amazing, but...

Umm...awesome catch...but it's still a home-run...isn't it?

Please don't give him any ideas...
