MARQUETTE -- Getting fingerprinted is not just for people who get arrested, and the Marquette City Police are providing the service to the community.

The MPD uses a live scan which automatically scans your prints directly into their system. People applying to get a concealed pistol license are required to get it done, but they also provide the service to local employers and anyone applying for a job working with kids.

"It helps protect children in the schools from people who would be working in the schools with a sexual misconduct background," said Officer Michael Archocosky, "or those in banking convicted with a fraudulent or types of monetary crimes."

There is a $70 fee to use the service, and you will need to bring personal identification paperwork. The MPD is open during normal business hours.
