Taking aim for deer season

WEST BRANCH TOWNSHIP -- This past weekend, more than 30 hunters came to the West Branch Sportsmen's Club to warm up for deer season.

The club is providing a free shooting range so hunters can sight-in their rifles.  They do this every year on the weekends leading up to firearm deer season.

Experienced club members offer their assistance with spotting scopes to check accuracy.  The rifle sight-in days allow hunters to hone their skills and test their rifles so they're at their best when deer season begins.

"We'd like to make sure that they make that one shot, clean humane kill.  When they get to the animal they owe it to their fellow hunters, themselves, and the animal to do that," said Club Treasurer, Bob Englund.

The West Branch Sportsmen's Club will hold two more rifle sight-in days on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Firearm deer season is from November 15 through November 30.
